It’s hard to believe that it’s already time for St Patrick’s Day! It feels like just yesterday we were ringing in the new year! But here we are, ready to celebrate our Irish culture. While St. Patrick's Day is one of the most celebrated holidays around the world. If you've ever witnessed the streets of Dublin post-parade, you'll know that the day can be harmful to the environment while generating massive amounts of waste. If you’ll be enjoying the parade this year here are a few ways you can go green this St. Patrick's Day.
1.Look For Bins Beyond the Usual Spots.
When your’e out and about, it can be tough to find a bin in the middle of all the action, so keep an eye out for local newsagents , takeaways, Luas stops and enclosed shopping centres (St Stephens Green and Jervis). These places usually have bind outside if you can’t find a bin nearby, just hold onto your rubbish until you can get rid of it properly. Lets keep the streets clean and green this Paddy’s Day!
2.Take Public Transport
Trust us, taking public transport is a smart move for both sustainability and convenience. With an estimated 400,000 people attending the parade in Dublin this year, the city center is going to be jam-packed with cars, making it tough to navigate through the crowds and find parking. Plus, driving your own car means contributing to more traffic and air pollution. Taking public transport, on the other hand, is not only more environmentally friendly but also a time-saving option. You won't have to worry about finding a parking spot or getting stuck in traffic.
3.Buy Less Plastic Decorations.
Plastic decorations can hurt the environment. They can take hundreds of years to break down and can harm wildlife. Instead of buying plastic decorations, consider using decorations made from eco-friendly materials like paper or fabric.
4.Go Meat-Free for the Day.
Meat production is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. Going meat-free for the day can help reduce your carbon footprint. There are plenty of delicious vegetarian and vegan recipes you can try. If you can't go meat-free, try supporting local farmers by buying organic locally sourced produce.
St. Patrick's Day is a time to celebrate our Irish heritage, but we should also remember that this includes protecting Ireland's natural environment. By taking small steps like looking for bins beyond the usual spots, taking public transport.buying less plastic decorations and, going meat free for the day, we can all reduce our environmental impact on St. Patrick’s day and enjoy the holiday while taking care of the planet.

I wanted to let you know about some really exciting changes that I’ve been working on. We’re getting a makeover, and I’m excited to share our new look with you and why we’ve decided to change our branding.
When we started, our vision was for:
“A future where making good choices for people and the planet, is as simple as buying the things that you need.”
Our mission was to make sure people had access to products that helped them make a difference without lifting a finger, saving time, money and stress, while giving our customers peace of mind, knowing that when they buy the things they want and need, they are actually making a difference. These are the heart and soul of Oh My Good along with our guiding principles and neither will ever change.
When I first launched Oh My Good, I designed a logo that fit where we were, but now that we are growing into ourselves and finding our voice, I wanted to create an identity that reflected our values and mission whilst being streamlined and easily recognisable.
Our new look is simple and versatile, with the green of our logo representing the earth, forests, plants, and our mission to support our customers in their journey toward a more sustainable lifestyle.
We use tan: to represent the human spirit, community and our mission to make fair trade and supporting communities more accessible.
Yellow is used because it: represents the sun, its energy as well as our positive climate optimist outlook.
The light blue colour: represents our concern for ocean health and the well-being of the animals and plants living in it
The only thing we're changing at the moment is our logo and branding, so our customers won't have to do anything.
We have some exciting plans and ideas to develop and showcase our new identity, so do keep an eye out for these changes and other up and coming plans we have for the future.
If you’d like to contact us with questions or to share feedback please send me an email to info@ohmyood.ie.
